FAQs
Yes! You can configure the Orma apps to backup any folder within your phone or desktop.
Yes! In case you encounter hardware defects in the first 2 years, we will replace the device. No questions asked.
No they cannot, the data within the device is encrypted.
Every family member on Orma gets their own dedicated, isolated space. Unless you explicitly share your data, they cannot access any of it.

Option #1: The device comes with a USB 2.0 port to which you can plug in an external hard disk. Orma will continuously encrypt your data and back it up to this disk. The Orma app will help you restore and access these backups in case of a device failure.

Option #2: You can configure Orma to push an encrypted backup of your data to a cloud provider of your choice. Since the uploaded backups are encrypted, these third-party providers cannot read your data. We currently support Dropbox, iCloud, OneDrive, Google Drive and Amazon S3. Please reach out to us if you would like to configure a different provider, we would be happy to add it to our roadmap.

Option #3: An extra Orma device can be bought and linked to provide redundancy. While setting up the newer device, the app will give you an option to configure it either as an extension or as a backup storage. Choosing the latter will give you the option of keeping one device at your home and others off-site. Any number of Orma devices can be linked this way.

Vishnu, a former Google engineer, is building Orma with inputs from his friends working at FAANGs and unicorns. Orma is an attempt to provide a convenient, privacy focussed alternative to unencrypted cloud storage.
